2G: Judge warns counsel signalling witness to keep mum

New Delhi: Irked by a 2G case defence counsel signalling a prosecution witness to keep mum and not to depose in the case, Special CBI Judge O P Saini, trying the case, today warned that he would expell the lawyer and others.
"I think you (lawyer) are signalling him (witness) to keep his mouth shut," Special Judge Saini told the woman counsel who was standing near the judge's dais.
"Do not signal the witness, otherwise I will send that person (counsel) out of the courtroom," an angry judge said.
The incident took place when DB Realty Vice President (Regulatory) Vijender Kumar Sharma was testifying as a witness in the court.
The judge asked Sharma whether he was under any threat or pressure from anyone after the witness said he was not aware if Associated Hotels (P) Ltd, to which accused A Raja's former private secretary R K Chandolia had rented his property, was linked to DB Realty in any manner and CBI's prosecutor asked the court to declare him as a hostile witness.
