Hema returns to TV with `Maati Ki Banno`

New Delhi: After a eight-year sabbatical, Bollywood actress Hema Malini is making a comeback on the small screen as the producer for the show `Maati Ki Banno`.
The daily soap, from the house of Hema Malini Media and Entertainment, follows the journey of an orphan girl from Mauritius married into a family in Bihar. She struggles with her new life that seems to be under threat from dark secrets that haunt her husband`s family. "Maati Ki Banno portrays a battle where love is pitted against politics and courage against deceit through a woman`s extraordinary journey through life that takes her from Mauritius to Chhapra in Bihar. "The story touched my heart the first time I heard it and it also brought back memories of Chappra where I held my first political rally," said Malini, who is a Rajya Sabha member from BJP. The 62-year-old star has earlier directed and produced TV shows like `Noopur` and `Mohini`. `Maati Ki Banno`, starring newcomers Via Roy Choudhury and Manoj Chandila in the lead, will be aired from December 27 onwards on Colors. "We are delighted to announce the launch of `Maati Ki Banno` in association with Hemaji. It is an important milestone for us as we are launching the show in an early evening time slot, and are confident the show will strike a chord with the viewers," said Ashvini Yardi, Head Programming, Colors.
