London: Colin Firth has received the Actor Achievement award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
The British actor won his first major award for his role as the stammering George VI in Golden Globe nominated film ‘The King’s Speech’, reports a news channel. Dame Helen Mirren, who is no stranger to playing royalty, curtsied as she presented him with the gong. Firth bowed to her in return before he joked: "Maybe I am the Queen". Firth’s performance as the monarch who struggles to overcome his stammer is tipped for success at the Golden Globes after the film picked up seven nominations. ANI
