New Delhi: Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh paid tributes to the rock bands in the city with his `Rock-n-Roll` inspired collection at the Van Heusen Men`s Week today.
The designer had members from bands like Parikrama, Half Step Down, 360 Degrees and Medieval Punditz walk the ramp alongside regular models.
"There is not much happening in India in terms of rock music. Popular music is very different in India as compared to the west. There is more to music than just Bollywood. So I entered them into my collection," said the media-shy designer.
Even though it was a menswear collection, he had a few female models on the ramp in between, wearing masculine jackets and trousers.
The line comprised jackets mostly, teamed with denim trousers. The colour palette ranged from blacks and browns to rust and mustard. Chunky chains worn around necks and wrists and gelled hair added to the grunge look.
There were skulls glowing red hanging on the top of the ramp and a dark crucified figure at the backdrop.
Talking about the menswear market in India, the designer said, "There is a great pret market for menswear. Earlier what we had in terms of designer menswear were what we had got from the British. Now everybody is twisting it, adding the Indian touch."
