Diesel price hike to cost CIL Rs 1,300 crore per year

Deregulation of diesel price well taken in line with international oil prices and for economic reforms Bulk & retail prices would not remain for long However what govt (state/Central) earning from the commodity as bulk taxation is diverting to social reform programs for votes Are these reforms have so far changed social index or proved fruitful? The direct subsidy to poor is indirect procurement of votes Instead of creating environment for development of human resource, it is like feeding tiger in its den! As Director Finance of SCCL(Singareni Collieries) , I must confess that it has thrown the bulk consumers into many problems There are contracts where we supply diesel and explosives to the contractors, like Overburden Removal If they consume excess the Company will charge penalty If they consume less then what is prescribed in the agreement we pay them bonus Now differential pricing regime will put us into lot of problems As of now we cannot prevent contractors from procuring diesel at the retail price and charge our company , bulk rate At SCCL we use around Rs1000 crores worth of HSD Oil every year-Vivekanand IRAS -Kolkata
