Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government's excise tax collection during April-December period of the current fiscal has increased by 36 percent to Rs 1,625 crore, according to official sources.
They also said state's Commercial Tax Minister Amar Agrawal in a meeting of the Excise Department has asked officials of all districts to strictly check sale of illegal liquor.
Although sale of illegal liquor in the state has been curbed to some extent on account of the recently initiated campaign, regular monitoring is required, Agrawal has said in the meeting, according to sources.
The Minister also said stern action will be taken against excise officials if incidents of sale of illegal liquor were found, they added.
