Mumbai: Love for the bygone blooms with full verdant in the movies of ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Be it Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing Paro in ‘Devdas’ or Sonam Kapoor’s quintessential adaas in ‘Saawariya’, Bhansali never seems to dilute the fervour of love even a bit. With his latest film ‘Guzaarish’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya, the helmer has once again got in touch with filmmaking as it used to be in the 1930s and 40s. If sources are to be believed, Bhansali has made arrangement for lead actors Hrithik and Aishwarya to dance to live music similar to how movie sequences were canned earlier. Speaking to news daily, Sanjay talked about the golden bygone era, “It was a blast. I always had my music team with me whenever we were shooting songs. I would compose parts of the song on the sets, keeping in mind the meter of the lines, and we would improvise their picturisation as my music team played my compositions. Shail, the singer I introduced with ‘Saawariya’, would always be there to render my compositions.” There were times in fact, when his lead actors would be singing their own lines too. Bhansali says. “My drummer and guitarist were always with me. It was quite like the early days of films when there would be a live orchestra playing as actors sung their own songs." A source reveals, “Bhansali sir demanded that we choreograph one specific song with live music. He mentioned the same to choreographer Pony Verma who was quite excited to experiment with live choreography as she had never done it before. While shooting the song, we had a singer and a guitarist on the sets. Normally the choreographer says 1,2,3,4 and the music starts, but here Hrithik and Aishwarya would start performing only when the singer would start singing.” The source further said, “Initially Aishwarya and Hrithik freaked out when they heard this concept. But as soon as they started dancing to live music, they thoroughly started enjoying every moment of shooting the song.”
