New Delhi: It seems that the Millennium City Gurgaon is actually going to get pod taxis, the first in the country, as part of personal rapid transit (PRT) network.

There were reports in 2010 as well that Gurgaon will soon have its own network of pod cities soon.

As per reports, the National Highways Authority of India is set to invite global bids for the project by April, and has laid down the target to complete the project within a year of giving out the contract.

The pilot project is expected to cover a 13 km stretch. With an estimated cost of Rs 850 crore, the PRT network may connect Gurgaon-Delhi border to Badshapur Mod on Sohna Road.

A pot can seat up to five people, besides offering an option of hiring the entire pod and riding to the destinaton withpot a stop.

The average speed of the pods is expected to be 60kmph.
