Bob Dylan’s China gig under review

Bob’s application to play a series of shows in China is being reviewed.

London: Bob Dylan’s application to play a series of shows in China is being reviewed by officials, a year after authorities refused the folk legend permission to perform in the communist country.
Dylan, 69, had planned to take his Never Ending Tour to China last April, but the country’s government failed to grant him approval for dates in Beijing and Shanghai, the Daily Express reported. The move prompted Dylan to scrap the rest of his Asian tour dates. Now the singer has put in a new application, and an official from China’s Ministry of Culture has revealed a decision is now pending. Dylan is believed to be classed as a controversial act to perform in China because of his politically charged lyrics and support for the 1960s U.S. protests movement. ANI
