Mariah Carey never celebrates her birthday

London: R&B star Mariah Carey claims that she is not bound by the rules of society, has no concept of time and never celebrates her birthday.

The 41-year-old singer, who is expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon believes that not celebrating her birthday gives her a sense of more freedom, Contactmusic reported. "I don`t have birthdays. Literally. If anyone wished me happy birthday, I`d be like, “Who are you talking to?” It`s about not being tied down to anything," Carey said. The `Hero` hitmaker insisted that she discards the usual restraints of society and has no interest in being punctual for anything as she hates to be restricted. "Honestly I don`t think I`m normal. I don`t think my life has been quite normal. I disregard time, you don`t see me wear a watch. I don`t adhere to modern rules or the normal rules of time," she explained. However, despite her unconventional lifestyle and diva reputation, Carey thinks she is a dream employer because she truly cares about her staff. "I can be difficult but I`m pretty nice compared to most people I`ve seen do what I do. If you want to work for someone difficult, work for a bank or company where people don`t care about you. I take care of a lot of people and it`s not easy," she added. PTI
