Mala Sen, writer of the critically acclaimed film `Bandit Queen`, died of cancer at the Tata Memorial Hospital here. She was 64.

Mumbai: Mala Sen, writer of the critically acclaimed film `Bandit Queen`, died of cancer at the Tata Memorial Hospital here. She was 64.
Sen had been diagnosed with cancer some months ago. She had come to India from London for treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital here. She died yesterday morning, hospital sources said. Sen was mostly known for her collaboration with director Shekhar Kapur for `Bandit Queen` (1994), the film based on the life of Phoolan Devi, a dacoit-turned-politician. "RIP Mala Sen, a life spent in search of creative self expression, writer tht led me 2 Bandit Queen," Shekhar Kapur said on twitter. PTI
