Judge refuses to dismiss Doherty`s drug possession case

London: Rocker Pete Doherty`s plea to have his cocaine possession case thrown out of court has been rejected by a judge here.

The 31-year-old singer was charged with the drug count last September, alongside his two friends, Peter Wolfe and Alan Wass, following an investigation into the death of filmmaker Robyn Whitehead. Director Whitehead, who was working on a documentary about the troubled Libertines star, was found dead from a suspected drug overdose in an apartment in Hackney, London in January 2010. The trio`s legal team requested that the case was thrown out at Thames Magistrates` Court in east London on Friday but a judge dismissed the plea, reported a daily. Doherty and his co-defendants, none of whom turned up for the hearing, are set to appear in court on February 2. PTI
