Bhansali to adapt ‘The Jungle Book’ for his first children’s film

Mumbai: Focusing on typical Bollywood potboilers, B-town biggies have seldom shown keen interest in reviving children’s film. After churning out intense romantic flicks such as ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Devdas’ and ‘Saawariya’, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to adapt ‘The Jungle Book’ to make his first’s children’s film. Talking to a news daily, a source from Bhansali’s team said, “Bhansali has been toying with the idea of making a film for children since long. Recently, he zeroed in on the idea of ‘The Jungle Book.’ Although in the past he has experimented with different genres, he has never tried anything like this. He finds the entire series very interesting and is keen to work on it.” “Few days ago, Hrithik took the ‘Guzaarish’ crew members and Bhansali out for dinner at a suburban five star hotel. It was there that Bhansali spoke about this idea. In fact, his writers have started working on the script and story. Hrithik seemed quite excited and showed interest too. The movie will be shot in the Amazon and will have major graphics and animation. Bhansali also plans to rope in a Hollywood technician for the special effects,” maintained the source. It seems, post ‘Guzaarrish’, we once again might get to see the Hrithik-Bhansali jodi as the source added, “Hrithik has wanted to do a children’s film for long. His kids are major superhero fans and want to see their father in a fun children’s movie. Although this wouldn’t be a superhero flick, it will cater to the kids.”
