Bhopal: Even as the court gave a 'clean chit' to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently in the 'dumper' scam following a Lokayukta report, the mining and forest scam is all set to haunt the CM.
Following a forest officer’s revelation of the mineral-rich forests of Satna district, a new problem seems to be staring the MP government in the face, according to a newspaper report.
Additional principal chief conservator of forest Jagdish Prasad Sharma on October 4 submitted a report claiming that huge illegal mining of stone and stone slabs were going on in Nagod and Unchehra forest ranges, the paper said.
Alleging a nexus between forest department officials and illegal miners, the report has named two ministers in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet – PWD minister Nagendra Singh Nagod and Minister of State for Mineral Resources Rajendra Shukla.
The report submitted to principal chief conservator of forest Ramesh K Dave has claimed that these two ministers were involved in the massive illegal mining.
Reportedly about 12 illegal mines operate at Khamtala, Sakhauha, Maharajpur and Khuthi alone.
