`The Japanese Wife` to be screened at Polish film fest

Filmmaker Aparna sen`s latest movie `The Japanese Wife`, a lyrical love poem between a Japanese woman and a teacher set in rural India, will be screened at the International Festival of Independent Cinema in Krakow, Poland.

The movie, a home production of Saregama Films, is the only Indian film to be screened at the important festival other than `Paa`, starring Amitabh Bachchan," an official of the production company told reporters. `The Japanese Wife`, made by the national award winning director known for films like `36 Chowringhee Lane`, `Paroma`, `Sati` and `Yugant`, has been shot in English, Bengali, Japanese with Rahul Bose, Raima Sen and Chigusa Takaku in the title role. The Polish festival will be held from April 16 to 25. The film, which also marks the return of yesteryear`s beauty Moushumi Chatterjee, had notched up good response from viewers in the second week of its running, Saregama India Managing Director, Apurv Nagpal, said.
