Gervais defiant as Globes controversy simmers

People can`t stop asking Ricky Gervais about his acerbic hosting gig on Sunday`s Golden Globes.

Los Angeles: People can`t stop asking Ricky Gervais about his acerbic hosting gig on Sunday`s Golden Globes.
On CNN`s "Piers Morgan Tonight" airing Thursday, the British comedian makes no apologies for ruffling Hollywood feathers with his arch observations. "It`s not my job to worry about what people think of me, that`s the job of a politician," he says. "I don`t care what people think of me." Echoing previous remarks, he denies any negative reaction backstage or that he was told to tone down the wise cracks he delivered at the expense of such stars as Charlie Sheen, Bruce Willis and Robert Downey Jr., as well as the event`s organizer, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The group`s president, Phillip Berk, told The Hollywood Reporter that Gervais "crossed the line" during his return engagement. But the comic tells Morgan: "They hired me for a job, and if they didn`t want me, they shouldn`t have hired me." Bureau Report
