Railway Minister refuses to comment on possible fare hike
Chandigarh: Amid media reports suggesting another round of fare hike in the upcoming Railway Budget, Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on Sunday refused to comment on the speculation, saying such things should not be revealed before the budget.
“I won’t comment on the fare hike. I will not draw any inference, which suggests that I am refusing your question, but I may not say anything before the budget,” said Bansal.
Earlier on January 8, Bansal along with senior Railway Ministry officials met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed broad contours of the Rail Budget for 2013-14.
He had mentioned several times in past that the Railway needs much more funds and resources to fund its new projects and upgrade the service quality.
