Mumbai: It’s high time for the nasal-singing prodigy Himesh Reshammiya to take a reality check for the talented music director-singer-actor’s latest release ‘Radio’ is not only loud but completely out of sync! A movie revolving around the lives of three oddball characters, ‘Radio’ is a story about three people – RJ Vivan (Himesh Reshammiya), his ex-wife Pooja (Sonia Sehgal) and Vivan’s colleague Shania (Shenaz Treasuryvala). ‘Radio’ portrays these three characters complete with their quirky ways – if Vivan breaks into a song every now and then; Shania has the penchant to keep updating her Facebook status messages whereas Pooja is a caffeine addict who cannot do with her cup of coffee! Though ‘Radio’ boasts of recovering its cost before release, in reality, the film falls flat when it comes to storyline and direction blessed with trite dialogues. As an actor, Himesh struggles to deliver a serious performance with a straight face! ‘Radio’ miserably fails to capture the pulse of today’s generation. A wrong script and poor choice of actors proves the bane of ‘Radio.’ Apart from the quirky histrionics of Himesh, Sonia Sehgal is completely wasted as the actress spends most of the time weeping over her past and so does Shenaz, who knows nothing except grinning for no obvious reasons. A shoddy script and poorly sketched characters hardly leave anything to imagination. In all, ‘Radio’ is a sinking ship. It is a rude reminder to Himesh to get back to what he is good at (music direction) rather than what he aspires (acting and singing) to be. Ratings: One cheer for this one!
