Kolkata: A detailed study report on non- tariff barriers hurting trade among the eight Saarc countries is likely to be ready by March.
"We are supposed to draft the report in January and the final report will be ready by March," Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bangladesh Secretary Saqib Quoreshi said today at the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A meet on finalisation of the report would be held in Delhi in February, he said.
"We are executing agency for the study funded by the German international cooperation agency GTZ. The study will try to find out trade being lost due to the non tariff barriers. We will do econometric modelling for at least a few products," he said.
The report would recommend how to minimise non-tariff barriers to boost trade within regional countries, he said.
He said to reduce the impact of the Chinese, trade within Saarc has to be boosted.
