New Delhi: The Telecom Ministry is expecting sector regulator Trai to send its recommendation on 'Auction of Spectrum' within two days which will set future course of action for policy formation and various decisions related to issuance of new licences and spectrum allocation.
"Trai is going to give us recommendation any day now. Let the recommendation come. When Trai's recommendation comes on a host of issues, then you will get to know in which direction the country is moving," IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters here on Thursday.
The Minister was speaking on the sidelines of the renaming ceremony of Department of Information Technology to Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY).
Telecom Secretary R Chandrashekhar said that DoT is expecting Trai recommendation to come within two days.
"We are expecting it (Trai's recommendation) any time soon. They may give us tomorrow or day after tomorrow," Chandrashekhar said.
He added that as per the process, DoT will go through the recommendation and send it back to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, in case the department needs any clarification or has a different view.
"In that case, Trai will have to resend it recommendation within 15 days. Then on those recommendation, we will take a final call on what needs to be included and need not to be included in the final decision," he said.
