New Delhi: TV actor Amit Sadh, who got his first break in Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor`s `Kai Po Che`, says he always wanted to act in films and was waiting for the right opportunity to make his debut.
`Kai Po Che` is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat`s third novel `The Three Mistakes of My Life` and also stars two more newcomers - Sushant Singh Rajput and Raj Kumar Yadav.
"I did many TV soaps in the past, so, bagging a film was not tough but I was waiting for a good script and `Kai Po Che` came as a complete package. This is the kind of film which a newbie actor would love to make his debut with," Amit said.
Amit acted in series of TV soaps including Neena Gupta production `Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr` and `Kohinoor`. He also took part in the first season of the reality show `Bigg Boss`.
"I enjoy doing TV and the medium was the stepping stone of my acting career. I have played various characters on TV, so I didn`t face much problem when I faced the camera for the first time for this film. Both the medium are equally interesting," said Amit.
The actor is not worried about making his debut with a multi-starrer where he is sharing screen space with others.
"All the characters in the film are powerful. Gattu (Abhishek) wrote the screenplay so brilliantly that no particular character overshadows other. The USP of this film is that we all have acted for each other and that`s how we got into the soul of the characters," he said.
In the film, which will be premiered at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival next month, Amit is playing the character of Omkar Shastri.
"My character is the son of the head priest of the city. He is the sweetheart of his friends. He can do anything for his friends. I love the way the story has been adapted. The story is about three guys who are diverse yet the best of friends. It`s very similar to real life where we all have unique friends but that`s what connects us to them," said Amit.
The film will hit screens on February 22.
