The Directorate of Film Festivals will organise a three day `retrospective of Kamal Hassan films` at Delhi from July 9 to celebrate 50 years of his contributions to Indian cinema.

Chennai: The Directorate of Film Festivals will organise a three day `retrospective of Kamal Hassan films` at Delhi from July 9 to celebrate 50 years of his contributions to Indian cinema.
The three-day programme at Siri Fort auditorium would be inaugurated by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni and Kamal Haasan would be the guest of honour, a press release from the directorate said. The retrospective would screen various hit films of the actor like `Hey Ram` followed by `Anbe Ivam`, `Virumaandy,` `Thevar Magan`, `Sagara Sangamam,` `Dasavatharam` and `Nayagan.` Born on 7 November 1954, Kamal Hassan made his film debut as a child artiste on August 12 1959 in the film `Kalathoor Kannamma.` He went on to work in about 200 films and has bagged the National Film Award four times. To underscore his contribution to Indian cinema, the Government of India conferred upon him the country`s fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri in 1990. Besides the four National Awards, he has also bagged 19 Filmfare awards, five Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Nandi Awards for his work on these films, besides being commemorated at various international film festivals, the release added.
