Producer Boney Kapoor indebted to the benevolent Khans

Mumbai: Ever since the Box Office money spinner ‘Wanted’ hit the silver screen, the flick not only worked wonders to the sagging fortunes of Salman Khan but it also turned out to be a blessing in disguise for its ‘almost broke’ producer Boney Kapoor as not many are aware of the fact that Boney was in a financial mess much before ‘Wanted’ graced the silver screens. Owing to his weak finances, Boney was reduced to tears, as the traumatized producer has always been ready to do anything to make films. During these trying times, it was Salim Khan, who came forward and bailed out the poor producer. It is also believed that Salman too reportedly charged Rs 7 crore only instead of his usual fee of Rs 25 crore for ‘Wanted.’ Salim Khan (father of Salman Khan) came forward and made a generous offer of Rs 1 crore to salvage Boney’s sinking image and told him, “Look, I’m not here to help in the capacity of the hero’s father. And, I can only offer you Rs 1 crore because that is the only amount I have immediate access to. So if you need it, I can make out a personal cheque to you from my side.’’ Taking on to a news daily on the entire incident, Salim Khan said, “I seriously don’t know what the fuss is all about. I think every human being should be doing this for a friend. I know people who have crores lying in Swiss banks and benaami accounts but they will not help you with even a lakh when it comes to the crunch. In fact, if you tell someone that you are looking for monetary help, that is the surest way of driving them away from your life. I think most of us are born selfish. And when one of us does something, like I did, I am looked at as an aberration. Honestly, tell me what good is my money if I can’t help someone in his hour of need. How much money, I won’t comment. It is entirely between Boney and me.”
