London: Claire Danes makes a much anticipated return to US TV screens with the drama `Homeland.`
Danes, 32, who shot to fame in 1996 playing Juliet in Baz Luhrmann`s Shakespeare adaptation `Romeo & Juliet, was last seen on a small screen playing Angela Chase in the 1994 teen drama series `My So-Called Life`, reported Contactmusic. Seventeen years later and with a number of successful film roles under her belt, the actress has now returned to play a bi-polar CIA officer in the forthcoming drama. `Homeland` is set post-9/11 where Danes` character Carrie Anderson is convinced the rescue of a US soldier is a set up and fears terrorist repercussions. "I don`t really spend much time thinking about seducing an audience or protecting her status as being appealing or likeable. I find the challenge is finding a way to play the truth of her being chemically unstable and also a really proficient, highly capable CIA agent," she said. PTI
