MLA demands `Bharat Ratna` for Tanvir

Cong MLA demanded that `Bharat Ratna` should be conferred upon Habib Tanvir.

Bhopal, June 12: Congress MLA Arif Aqueel today demanded that `Bharat Ratna` should be conferred posthumously upon legendary playwright Habib Tanvir, who passed away here on Monday. "Tanvir was a gem of a person and there were very few people who could match him in any way," Aqueel said in a statement here.

A function would be organised here in honour of Tanvir following which a representation would be sent to President Pratibha Patil requesting her to confer the country`s highest civilian award `Bharat Ratna` upon him. Tanvir was buried at the Badabagh cemetery here on Tuesday with full state honours. Bureau Report
