‘The Simpsons’ to return for 23rd season

‘The Simpsons’ has always been known for its celebrity voiceover appearances.

New York: ‘The Simpsons’- the legendary animated sitcom-is set to make a comeback for a 23rd season, which would take it through at least 2012 and a mind-boggling 515 episodes in total, Fox has announced.
With their renewal, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie-and the rest of the warped ‘Simpsons’ universe-are creeping up on the record for the most episodes in prime-time TV history. Only ‘Gunsmoke’ (635 episodes) and ‘Lassie’ (558 episodes) have more-and the way ‘The Simpsons’ continues to roll, it’s reasonable to expect that it will end up as the all-time prime-time episode champ. "Like many 22-year-olds, ‘The Simpsons’ is extremely happy remaining at home, on Fox, and hopes it doesn’t have to go out into the real world for many years to come," the New York Post quoted series executive producer Al Jean as saying. ‘The Simpsons’ always been known for its celebrity voiceover appearances will also feature Katy Perry appearing in a live-action sequence alongside ‘Simpsons’ puppets-spoofing her ‘Sesame Street.’ IANS
