Los Angeles: Hollywood superstar George Clooney might be enjoying the heartthrob status with millions of fans across the globe but the producers of upcoming `Jack
Ryan` movie feel that the star is too old to play the title character.
Despite being very interested to don the role previously enacted by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford & Ben Affleck, Clooney, 48, would not be contacted for the casting
of the film.
The producer of the film, Lorenzo di Bonaventura said the script (the first Ryan movie not to be based on one of Tom Clancy`s novels) has been written for a man in his thirties,
a website reported.
"It`s for a young Jack Ryan. I love George, but it`s not written for a man of his age," Bonaventura was quoted telling to MTV.
Talking about the character he added, "It`s a great character. Very different [from] Bond or Bourne. It`s the analytical side of him and the everyman side of him that makes
him... special."
Jack Ryan is a fictional character created by author Tom Clancy who appears in many of his novels. The novels and film adaptations in which the character appears are
collectively referred to as the "Ryanverse".
