Melbourne: Cameron Diaz has said that she has become a ‘wiser, experienced and better person’ with age.
The actress, who debuted at the age of 16 in ‘The Mask’, will soon be turning 38, but she is unfazed about her age.
"I feel I have much more to offer now as a person. I’m wiser, more experienced and better at whom I am, and I hold great value above what I might look like age-wise,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.
"Don’t get me wrong, it’s important that I take good care of myself – not for aesthetic purposes, but because our bodies are our vessels. I realise that might sound corny, but it really is the truth. It’s the only body we have; if we want to enjoy ourselves while we’re on this planet and want to feel good about ourselves as long as we’re here, we have to take care of it," she added.
When suggested that she might be looking for other type of roles that suit her age, Diaz replied: “I think, as you get older, the stories you want to tell are different. I’m not going to be telling the same stories I did when I was 25, because I can’t. And believe me, there are plenty of 25-year-olds out there who will be telling those stories.”
The star insists that more than looks, it is the hard work that matters in the industry, and as long as she does that, she will be just fine.
"It’s important to me to have that strong work ethic, because this is a business that demands commitment. I don’t worry about the future. I have faith in myself, and the way I live my life, that whatever I’m doing at 40, I’ll be doing what makes me happy. Whether that’s making movies or not, I don’t know."
