New Delhi: Sometimes presentation gets an edge over others. This is what happened at a four-designer show at the Van Heusen India Men`s Week, when masked men, wearing kohl and gold bracelets and chains, walked the ramp Saturday in crisp, clean silhouettes.
There were no personal favourites. All four designers -- Abraham and Thakore, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Abhishek Gupta and Rajesh Pratap Singh -- presented neat, wearable and impeccable detailed and finished garments on the ramp in hues of black, white, grey, beige and a lot of self-prints and checkered garments. But in the end, it were the masked men who stole the show.
Designer duo Abraham and Thakore emphasised on easy dressing and played with contrasts as homespun, manmade fabric was tailored into simple structured garments.
"Joie De Vivre" was the theme of Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna`s line. It was their take on the urban man. Cool colours like blue were mixed with earthy tones to get the contrast mix and match. Stylish cuts and construction blended well with different textures were the highlight of their line.
For Abhishek Gupta, cuts and structures were of the utmost importance. Hence slim fit trousers, scarves, checkered and cargo pants teamed with hats dominated the line.
Last but not the least, media-shy designer Rajesh Pratap Singh, who is known for his simplistic yet structured garments, focused on layering. One could see a crisp shirt, then a waist-coat of different hue, topped up with a crinkled coat with rolled up sleeves. The look was grungy yet mysterious.
Also, this being a men`s fashion week, Rajesh Pratap Singh made sure women models are not missed. A female model closed the show, with a round of applause and cheers from the audience.
