Mumbai: The 64th Cannes Film Festival saw many Indian faces walking the red carpet. Besides Aishwarya Rai (a regular feature at the Cannes), Mallika Sherawat, Sonam Kapoor, Minnisha Lamba and Saif Ali Khan too graced the prestigious ceremony. But as always there had to be some controversy attached to the annual international event.
Saif, who had said that Aishwarya makes an appearance at Cannes only because she is has a pretty face has clarified that he never intended to make fun of her.
Talking to a daily, Saif said, “I was asked about the relevance of Ash going to Cannes and I said she is the international face of India. I said we should be proud about her beautiful face.”
Chhote Nawab felt that his words have been minced and projected in a bad light.
“One website quoted me verbatim, complimenting Ash, which is what I meant in the first place. But others have misquoted me. I would never say something like that about her!”
All said and done, Saif, you were right in calling Aishwarya a pretty face. Now if people mistake you, who can help them!
