Mumbai: Actor Irrfan Khan and producer Bunty Walia are among the prominent Bollywood personalities who have joined the Maharashtra Navnirman Cine Workers` Association.
Khan, a versatile actor, became the association`s member today, said MNS General Secretary Shalini Thackeray.
Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, Sandeep Kulkarni and Harshada Khanvilkar too have joined the association, floated by Raj Thackeray-led MNS three years ago.
Shalini told PTI that association will provide a medical insurance and accident cover of Rs 50,000 to technicians and other film/TV workers, who have become its members.
Shalini said actors and technicians were drawn to the MNS-controlled association because it covered all departments of film and TV industry as well as the theatre.
The association now has some 3000 members.
"They feel there are too many associations in the industry handling different things. This delays problem-solving. Also, we charge nominal fees. The most important thing for us is that the artists and technicians get justice and respect," she added.
