Reverend calls for Jacko stamp honour

Reverend Al Sharpton has called on Postal Service officials to honour Jacko.

London, July 07: American Baptist minister Reverend Al Sharpton has called on US Postal Service officials to honour late King of Pop Michael Jackson with a commemorative stamp.Sharpton, 54, a civil rights leader and long-time friend of the Jackson family, wanted to ensure the singer’s memory lived on following his sudden death on June 25.

But Postal Service executives have told Sharpton that, as per the rules, stars cannot get their own stamp until five years after their demise. “I’m sure we’ll receive tens of thousands of letters advocating for the stamp, but the rules are the rules,” the Daily Star quoted a spokesman for the mail service as having told the New York Daily News. The Reverend is also urging government chiefs to declare a national day of mourning in tribute to the late pop superstar. ANI
