Arnie wants Polanski to be “treated like everyone else”

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that Roman Polanski should not get any special privileges because of his contribution to cinema and must be “treated like everyone else”.

London: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that Roman Polanski should not get any special privileges because of his contribution to cinema and must be “treated like everyone else”. Polanski is presently under arrest in Zurich on a US warrant for having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in Los Angeles in the late 1970s.
Polanski extradition means his case would be tried in a Los Angeles court and governor Schwarzenegger has the authority to pardon him. However, the actor-turned-politician seems to be in no mood for a pardon to the Rosemary’s Baby director. A news daily quoted him as saying: “It doesn`t matter if it`s Roman Polanski or anyone else. It doesn`t matter if you are a big-time movie actor or a big-time movie director or producer. "I think that he is a very respected person, and I am a big admirer of his work. But, nevertheless, I think he should be treated like everyone else." Schwarzenegger added: “One should look into all of the allegations, not only his allegations but the allegations about his case. Was there something done wrong? You know, was injustice done in the case?” The ‘Governator’ also rubbished claims of Hollywood being "out of touch" with majority opinion because of the support extended to Polanksi from some quarters of the film industry. He said, "I don`t think it`s as much out of touch. I think Hollywood has always been very liberal." ANI
