Mumbai: Is Akshay Kumar the latest star to join the IPL bandwagon? If rumours are to be believed, the ‘Tees Maar Khan’ star has shown keen interest to buy an IPL team. The actor, whose latest film ‘Thank You’ releases today has pinned his hopes on the film as he has been having a somewhat lean period. Post the success of ‘Houseful’, the actor’s other releases failed to make a mark at the Box Office. At the premiere of `Thank You`, when the actor was asked if he would consider buying an IPL team in near future, the actor joked and said, "First let `Thank You` do well. If it does, I will consider buying an IPL team." Although the actor was joking at that time, but sources close to the actor have stated that actor did bid for an IPL team last year along with director Priyadarshan but fell short of buying a team. Many would remember that Akshay’s association with IPL has been there since the first season when he was ambassador for the IPL Delhi team . Akshay’s close friend, actor Suniel Shetty told a leading daily, "I will buy stakes in that IPL team which Akshay will buy if our film ‘Thank You’ does well." So all are hoping that Akshay’s latest film ‘Thank You’ creates magic at the Box Office and Akshay can fulfill his dream of acquiring an IPL team.
