Bhopal: Noted film-maker Mahesh Bhatt, who is producing `The Last Salute`, a play on the Iraqi journalist who threw a shoe at former US President George Bush, plans to visit the strife-torn country and meet him.
Bhatt told PTI today that he wants to meet Muntazer al-Zaidi, the journalist who shot to international fame in 2008 after he threw a shoe at Bush. Actor Imran Zahid, who plays the lead role in the play, and director Arvind Gaur would accompany him. "We haven`t met him, we just got information from his book and media reports. So it was important for us to meet him in person, to get first-hand information about him and people there," Bhatt said. "This would help us in making the play more real." Bhatt said that in fact Muntazer had advised him not to travel to Iraq because of the security situation there. "But we will surely go, unless Government of Iraq says no," Bhatt said. "I don`t feel unsafe". The play will open in New Delhi on May 14 this year. PTI
