For actress-director Nandita Das, six months old son Vivaan comes before her career. The actress, who was set to play the lead in Deepa Mehta’s next, has opted out of the film as she wants to devote her time to her son. Deepa Mehta`s adaptation of ‘Midnight`s Children’ by Salman Rushdie has been seeing lot of changes in the cast. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Om Puri have in the past opted out of the project. Deepa Mehta has infact also offered Nandita a cameo in the film since it would take less for her time but Nandita has refused even that. The actress said to a reporter of leading daily, “That didn`t make sense as it would have been neither here nor there”. The actress felt that she would not be able to do justice to both the roles (motherhood and role in Deepa’s film). “I would have felt quite torn” says the critically acclaimed actress. Pity, but as Deepa says, there is Kamagathamaru, where I am playing the female lead and as I say, there is a time for everything!" said Nandita The actress earlier had a fallout with Deepa Mehta when she was ousted of the latter’s film ‘Water’ without being informed. The duo, in the past, has worked together in films like ‘Earth’ and ‘Fire’. They eventually patched up two years back when they met in New York.
