New Delhi: Deepika Padukone, who is on Twitter, got the surprise of her life when she was asked for a coffee date by none other than veteran actor Shammi Kapoor on the microblogging website.
Twitter is a favourite haunt of Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Karan Johar but Deepika said she did not know that Kapoor had also joined twitter. The actress is now planning to meet the 78-year-old star.
"I`ve met Shammiji a couple of times and always felt this warmth towards him and I can feel the same from him. Even his wife has been very nice to me. Apparently he was tweeting me and I didn`t even imagine that Shammiji would be on Twitter. But that happened just before I came here so when I go back I`ll have my coffee date with him," Deepika told reporters.
The 24-year-old actress is currently in Delhi to shoot her film `Break Ke Baad` with debutante filmmaker Danish.
Produced by Kunal Kohli of `Hum Tum` fame, the film sees her opposite Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, Deepika is awaiting the release of her upcoming film `Houseful`. She has tried her hands at comedy for the first time in the Sajid Khan directed movie.
"Comedy is one of the most difficult genres for an actor because I think comedy is all about timing and spontaneity.
But its been great fun and I am really happy that I worked with Sajid and Akshay who are brilliant when it comes to comedy," said Deepika who was in the capital to launch Power Biking at Anatomy Lifestyle health club.
Deepika`s bikini act in `Housefull` has been much talked about but the actress said she decided to go for a bold look because it was a demand of the character that she plays in `Housefull`.
"At the end of day you are making a modern film, where girls are on the beach and you have to be a bit realistic about it. It was something required and this is is something I won`t do for any other film. You have to have the confidence to carry off the film. The focus of the film is not the bikini, it will come and pass off," she said.
Despite sporting a bikini, the actress does not believe in the going size-zero which according to her is not suitablefor the Indian body.
"I have never been asked to lose weight but if I ever have to put on weight for a movie I`ll do that. I don`t think it is healthy to be size zero. The Indian body is not cut out to be size zero," Deepika added.
Daughter of former Badminton ace Padukone, the actress said her recent tryst with cricket comes naturally to her.
"I haven`t thought about owning a team but I would love to support a team because I come from a sports family and I am enthusiastic about any kind of sport. I have been asked to be a part of cricket so I am there," said Deepika.
The actress, who began her Bollywood journey with Shah Rukh Khan in `Om Shanti Om` also dismissed reports that she and Salman Khan are doing a movie together.
"Both of us want to work with each other. But we haven`t been offered a movie together. If something interesting comes up I would love to work with him," Deepika said.
Apart from `Housefull` and `Break Ke Baad`, Deepika has also signed up a film with Pradeep Sarkar for Yash Raj Films.
