Review: Akshay-Riteish starrer ‘Housefull’ is a laugh riot

After the super duper Box Office success of ‘Heyy Baby’, Sajid Khan is back with his yet another comic caper ‘Housefull.’ Starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan, Arjun Rampal and the peerless Boman Irani, ‘Housefull’ is a multi-starrer comedy that promises to leave you in splits. In terms of acting, the troika of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani is awesome.

Mumbai: After the super duper Box Office success of ‘Heyy Baby’, Sajid Khan is back with his yet another comic caper ‘Housefull.’ Starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan, Arjun Rampal and the peerless Boman Irani, ‘Housefull’ is a multi-starrer comedy that promises to leave you in splits. In ‘Housefull’, Akshay reprises his bumpkin act as Aarush, a perpetual loser, who believes that true love can fend off his misfortune. Every time he falls in love, his girlfriend breaks his heart. Finally, he finds true love in Sandy (Deepika Padukone), who luckily reciprocates his feelings. Nonetheless, our hero has to persuade Sandy’s army-man brother, Major Krishna Rao (Arjun Rampal) and save himself from all the chaos and confusion created by his best friend Bob (Riteish), his lovely wife Hetal (Lara) and her father Batuk Patel (Boman Irani). With his deadpan expressions and slapstick humour, Akshay once again proves that he is simply the best when it comes to comedies. And ditto for Riteish and Boman Irani who bring the whole house down with their tomfoolery. ‘Housefull’ is a comic roller coaster with a few bumpy rides, check out the Akshay and Jiah romance sequences and the shenanigans of Chunky Pandey as an Italian hotelier ‘Aakhri Pasta.’ Nevertheless, after its second half, ‘Housefull’ picks up momentum when the lead characters - Aarush, Bob, Sandy, and Hetal rent a home, and Major Krishna Rao and Batuk Patel arrive. From here on, the movie stands true to its title with some highly electrifying dose of humour and the classic case of mistaken identities, with Akshay doubling up as Deepika’s boyfriend and Lara’s husband in order to please both Arjun and Boman. A true-blue comedy, ‘Housefull’ will keep you in engaged due to the loads of glitz, glamour and humour in the film. To top it all, ‘Housefull’ comes fully loaded with the music of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the new age rendition of ‘apni to jaise-taise.’ In terms of acting, the troika of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani is awesome. Lara Dutta and Deepika Padukone are good in their respective parts too. Ratings: Four cheers for this one!
