Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan today launched the digital avatar of G.One, a character that he plays in his much-awaited film `Ra.One`.
Shah Rukh had roped in UTV Indiagames to design a social game based on the film, which would serve the dual purpose of marketing the film as well as entertaining the users in the digital space.
"We are bringing in the country the first superhero social game. It has been conceptualised to ensure it reaches everyone. Gamers will also get to engage with G.One... understand his abilities and immerse in the game and become superheroes," he told reporters here.
The actor also played a game at the event.
"People talk about marketing a movie by putting posters or banners everywhere and giving interviews. I feel, the social game platform is an interesting marketing concept and besides that, it will engage audiences and give them information and knowledge about the movie in an entertaining way," he said.
`Ra.One` is a science-fiction film, starring Shah Rukh, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in lead roles.
"It has been observed that 50 per cent of all users on social networking platforms play games. So we decided to make a social game out of the character from the film `Ra.One`," UTV Indiagames, CEO, Vishal Gondal said.
The game will be launched across all the popular social networks like Facebook along with gaming platforms like Nokia Ovi, Android, Apple and others. Also, a special version of the game will be launched for DTH subscribers.
