New Delhi: The BSE benchmark Sensex zoomed over 400 points in afternoon trade Tuesday on fresh buying by investors.
The BSE 30-share barometer, which had gained 120.41 points in yesterday's trade, last quoted up by 417.50 points, or 1.50 percent, to 28,320.19.
Also, the NSE Nifty gained 129.90 points, or 1.51 percent, to 8,737.35.
Sustained buying by investors coupled with fresh round of buying by foreign as well as domestic financial institutions had a positive impact.
A firm trend at other Asian bourses following a strong lead from Wall Street too influenced sentiment.
Asian shares bounced modestly today as doubts the Federal Reserve would hike interest rates next month restrained the dollar, while investors continued to count on more policy stimulus elsewhere in the world.
MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.5 percent, recouping around half of Monday`s loss. Stocks in South Korea added 0.4 percent and Australia 0.3 percent.
Japan`s Nikkei went flat as the yen stopped falling following a sharp drop late last week.
The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.58 percent higher yesterday.
