New York: Whoopi Goldberg had to abandon her limo and grab a pedicab after she was stuck in a massive, three-way Midtown gridlock on her way to introduce President Barack Obama at her ‘Sister Act’ fund-raiser at the Broadway Theatre.
The traffic chaos was caused by street closures as Obama, Britain’s Prince Edward and Justin Bieber attended separate Manhattan events on Thursday. “We had to get out of the car and take a pedicab. I was introducing the president, so I couldn’t be late. I got there just in time. The casts were so thrilled to meet him,” Goldberg, producer of ‘Sister Act,’ told the New York Post. Her rep said she had planned to stop in at Prince Edward’s Duke of Edinburgh Award International Association and Young Americans’ Challenge gala at the Pierre before racing across town for the president. “But we got stuck. We hailed a pedicab, which caused chaos with people trying to take Whoopi’s picture,” the rep said. Adding: “The pedicab driver didn’t recognize her and was totally bemused by all the attention. He kept asking who she was.” ANI
