Sulochana, Bhanu Attayya to be feted in Kolhapur Intl fest

Kolhapur, May 20: Veteran actress Sulochana and Oscar awardee Bhanu Athayya would be felicitated at the international film festival to be held here, organisers said. Addressing a press conference here today, Lakshmikant Deshmukh, collector and chairman of the organising committee of the festival, said the veteran film personalities would be felicitated in the first ever international film fest to be held in Kolhapur.

Noted character artist and Padmashree awardee Sulochana and Bhanu Athayya, who won an Oscar for designing costumes for Richard Attenborough`s `Gandhi`, would be honoured for their contribution to Indian cinema, he said. Both, Suochana and Bhanu, who now are in their eighties, originally hail from Kolhapur, he said. The film festival, to be jointly organised by Kalamaharshi Baburao Painter Film Society, Federation of Film Societies of India, is scheduled to begin from June 3. In the week-long festival, besides ten foreign films, Kannada and Malyalam film, Marathi films including `Harischandrachi Factory`,`Gandh`, `Jogava` and `Gabhricha Paus` will be shown. Bureau Report
