My next directorial will be a comic entertainer: Subhash Ghai

Bollywood`s `showman` Subhash Ghai will be back with a comedy next time.

New Delhi: His last directorial ventures `Yuvvraaj` and `Black and White` had him dabbling in human drama, but Bollywood`s `showman` Subhash Ghai will be back with a comedy this time.
The veteran filmmaker has been directing fewer films to focus more on production and his last directorial was the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer in 2008 which failed to woo both viewers and critics. But Ghai intends to strike a chord with the audience this time and is planning a wholesome entertainer as his next. "My next film will be an entertaining light-hearted comedy. It is still in the scripting stages which will take about six more months to complete," Ghai told reporters. The 65-year-old director has delivered superhits like `Hero`, `Pardes` and `Taal` in the eighties and nineties, but has been producing more films than directing in the recent days. His latest production is the Sunny Deol starrer `Right Ya Wrong`, which released on March 13. "My production house Mukta Arts is a private limited company and we have some commitments towards our investors. So we need to keep producing movies even though I might direct very few," said Ghai. Directed by Neeraj Pathak, `Right Ya Wrong` is a thriller starring Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Eesha Koppikar alongwith Deol. Ghai is glad that the film has garnered good reviews. "I am happy with the public and media reaction. People are saying that this is one movie which is better than its promos, and not the other way round. The initial opening has not been good due to IPL but we are hoping it will pick up," he said. Ghai has not limited himself to producing films in only a certain genre as he thinks that variety is the spice of Bollywood these days. "Bollywood is churning out more variety than ever these days. My company is producing all kinds of films, like `Aitraaz`, `Iqbal` and `Kisna`. When Neeraj came with the script of this thriller and had already roped in Sunny, I agreed to finance it," said Ghai. The director has worked with some of the best talents in the industry including Shah Rukh Khan in `Pardes` and Hrithik Roshan in `Yaadein`, but insists that he does not go by an actor`s star value while casting. "I work with actors who follow the script instead of wanting the script to follow them. I don`t work with stars. Shah Rukh was not such a big star when I had worked with him," said Ghai. Being an established director and producer himself, Ghai is also keen on promoting budding talents in Bollywood through his film school Whistling Woods. "I am producing a new film called `Paschim Express`, which is being made entirely by graduates from my school," he said. Direction, production, financing movies as well as teaching filmmaking to aspirers, this man is juggling a number of balls simultaneously. "I am kind of multi-tasking these days. I am director, producer, businessman, a teacher all at the same time," said Ghai. ANI
