New Delhi: Palash Sen has penned a song titled ‘Main hoon’ to support the cause of girl child empowerment in the country. Music plays an important role in spreading message across masses, says the singer-composer.
"If somebody is talking to you and a music is being played somewhere near you, you would always pay attention to the music first. That is human psyche. (So,) We make songs and say things that would influence people positively," Sen told reporters here Thursday.
The number, which he has created with members of his band Euphoria, has been made in association with an NGO Plan India and radio station 92.7 Big FM`s campaign Kudiya Di Lohri.
The campaign aims at asking public to celebrate the forthcoming Lohri festival with as much fervour for a newborn girl child as it is done in the case of a boy.
Sen, known for numbers like ‘Dhoom pichuk dhoom’ and ‘Kabhi aana tu meri galli’, believes songs can help drive important messages in a subtle way to people.
"It is important that we give important messages through songs because they reach everywhere. All of us watch television everyday, all of us watch movies... We might not watch a play everyday or go to concert everyday, but these things (music) are very influential. So, if we say the right thing in a song, it will make a difference," he added.
Talking about the initiative, Ashwin Pasmanabhan, business head, 92.7 Big FM, said: "It is the celebration of birth of a girl child. Usually the first Lohri of boy is celebrated. We are addressing that issue."
Tune in to the radio station to hear the special song.
