Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra will be honoured by the organisers of the Indian Film Festival of London (IFFL) for his contribution to cinema during the festival which will be held in August.

Mumbai: Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra will be honoured by the organisers of the Indian Film Festival of London (IFFL) for his contribution to cinema during the festival which will be held in August. IFFL 2010 organisers will honour Chopra with a Retrospective by screening five of his movies including – An Encounter With Faces (1978); Parinda (1989); 1942: A Love Story (1993); and Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007).
IFFL 2010, which will be held from August 25-29 at London`s Riverside Studios and is dedicated to promote cinema from the Indian subcontinent, will end with a charity screening of `3 Idiots`, proceeds of which will go to UNICEF. The Retrospective will be accompanied by a post-screening question and answer session where Chopra will be interviewed in front of a live audience by a veteran of the British film industry. Along with the popular and offbeat cinema of Mumbai and regional India, the festival hopes to introduce audiences to the lesser-known cinematic traditions of the region, showcasing powerful productions from Pakistan and Bangladesh. "`3 idiots` is a special film. Its a film that has changed my own daughter`s outlook towards education. To have a charity screening for UNICEF only echoes what the film is trying to say and we are really proud to be associated with such a noble cause. Also would like to thank the festival for honoring me with a retrospective of my films," Chopra said. PTI
