Jay-Z’s gig cancelled amid security concerns

Jay-Z’s concert in his native New York has been axed over security reasons as the news about the programme leaked out.

London: Jay-Z’s concert in his native New York has been axed over security reasons as the news about the programme leaked out.
Rapper was planning to set the streets of midtown Manhattan for a surprise performance atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theatre during rush hour. The officials at the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting have denied permission to Brooklyn-born hip-hop singer, ending weeks of negotiations, after word of the performance leaked. "There was discussion of a concert, and ultimately it was decided there would be no permit,” the Daily Star quoted a spokesperson for the film office as confirming the reports. Spokesperson added: "Many permits are granted on the condition that the event is not made public beforehand for capacity and security reasons. This event was made public." The decision was declared just days after rapper Drake’s free concert at the city’s South Street Seaport was cancelled due to over-crowd that led to violent outbursts. Six people suffered minor injuries and two people were arrested. ANI
