Mumbai: With the year coming to an end, Bollywood actors seem to be in a hurry to set their bank accounts ringing. And after Salman Khan shocked us all with his whopping fee hikes, it’s Akshay Kumar who is following suit. The dashing actor has reportedly quoted a sum of Rs 27 crores to play the role of the dreaded underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Ekta Kapoor’s sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’. As per reports, Balaji Telefilm’s head honcho, Ekta Kapoor offered Akshay to step into Emraan Hashmi’s shoes in the second part of ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’. Confirming the news a source said, “Ekta wants to take the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai to the next level. She felt that Akshay would be ideal for playing Dawood Ibrahim’s role. She likes the way Akshay acts and feels that he has a lot of potential for playing challenging roles.” However, Akshay left the entire team of Balaji stunned, when he quoted a massive sum of Rs 27 crores. He was told that it would be difficult to generate profits if he was paid this large a fee. The actor was then asked if he would reconsider the situation and reduce his fee. But considering the actor’s demand, it seems unlikely that Akki would consider going for a lesser price. Nevertheless, Balaji is still keen on getting Akshay and might just shell out the amount quoted by the actor. We wonder if Akshay really justifies Rs 27 cr for a role.
