Film on Little Mermaid`s journey to China

The Little Mermaid statue will be taken from Copenhagen to Shanghai.

Beijing: Chinese artist Ai Weiwei who designed the Bird`s Nest stadium for Beijing Olympics will capture in a video the first overseas journey of Copenhagen`s landmark bronze statue the Little Mermaid to Shanghai, a media report said Monday.

The statue, created by Danish sculptor Edvard Eriksen in 1913, left Denmark`s Copenhagen harbour Thursday and will be displayed at an exhibition in Shanghai, China Daily reported on its website. The video will be shown on a large screen in the Denmark Pavilion at the exhibition. The statue will be brought back to the Danish capital in November. Copenhagen city council approved its landmark statue to be sent to Shanghai March 12, 2009. IANS
