`Slumdog Millionaire` star Dev Patel is "scaredy-cat"

London: `Slumdog Millionaire` star Dev Patel says he is a "scaredy-cat" who is afraid of spiders and doesn`t mind crying in public.

The 20-year-old actor admits he has many phobias and can`t even be in the same room as a spider, a news website reported. "I`m not superstitious but I am a scaredy-cat in general. The last time I was frightened was when I saw a massive spider in the bathroom. I had to run out in my towel and scream for my dad," Patel said. The actor says he is in touch with his emotions and is never afraid to let people see him cry, even weeping while watching a movie in public. "I cry a lot but the last time was watching `Brothers`, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. I was on a plane with so many people walking around, but I couldn`t help shedding a tear," Patel said. The `Last Airbender` star, who is dating actress Freida Pinto, insists he is a patient person but hates selfishness. "Nothing makes me physically angry but what does tick me off a little is people being selfish. I don`t like that," Patel said. PTI
