Bol Bachchan: Rohit Shetty`s hit formula continues

This is Rohit`s seventh film with Devgn and the duo have proved to be a hit jodi in Bollywood.

Mumbai: Director Rohit Shetty has made Ajay Devgn groove to a desi dance number for the first time in `Bol Bachchan` and much to his surprise the actor was very comfortable shaking a leg. The 39-year-old filmmaker, who teams up yet again with Devgn after hits like `Golmaal` and `Singham`, said it was fun to see Devgn enjoying dancing in the movie.
"His character is such in the film, and when we recorded the song we wanted him to dance a little. In the background we don`t have handsome looking dancers but they are all fighters, my action team and Pehlwans. "All are in off sync and Ajay enjoyed doing it. He had to be off sync, out of rhythm because the character demands that." He didn`t mind doing the dancing at all and it turned out well," Rohit told reporters. The film sees Devgn play the role of a dumb headed fighter and also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Asin Thottumkal, and Prachi Desai. Rohit took inspiration to make the action-comedy from Hrishikesh Mukherjee`s 1979 `Gol Maal` but he says that its only the idea which is similar. "I have taken the idea from `Gol Maal` but I have changed the script completely. We bought the film rights because it was fair as the idea belongs to them. I have seen `Gol Maal` 30-40 times, it very close to my heart and I wanted to showthe same story on a bigger canvass," he says. This is Rohit`s seventh film with Devgn and the duo have proved to be a hit jodi when it comes to box office success. Asked if Devgn has become his lucky mascot, Rohit says,"I have never thought it like that. We have worked together in seven films and we are working on another script together so never thought about `How did it happen` or `Was it a success formula`. I hope we continue to work together." Rohit doesn`t mind admitting the fact that he has stuck to a certain kind of genre while making films and his next also falls in the same category. He says that it`s what the audience likes watching and he is here to entertain them. His last movies include `Golmaal`, `Golmaal 2`, `Golmaal Returns`, `All The Best` and `Singham`. "People love these kinds of films. If you are making athriller or a particular kind of cinema then you have to take care of the budget. I can`t make a particular kind of cinema with the budget of `Bol Bachchan` cause the business stakes are so high. A film has to cater everyone, it has to be universal because you are investing so much," he said. Rohit started his career in Bollywood at the age of 15 as an assistant director on the film `Phool Aur Kaante` starring Devgan. He made his directorial debut in 2003 with `Zameen` starring Devgn and junior Bachchan. The filmmaker says `Bol Bachchan` is a complete entertainer and he is eager to watch how the film does on Friday, when it hits the theatres. "I have seen the film and the feedback I have got is good so I am just waiting what will happen on Friday. We have not tried to do any kind of experiment with film, people will get the same stuff which they expect from my films. I just want to see how they react in a better way this time," he said. Rohit`s next is Shahrukh Khan starrer `Chennai Express` and he will start shooting for the film in September. "I will start shooting in September and we should complete by March or April. We will finalise the leading lady once Shahrukh is back from London. It will be a typical Rohit Shetty film, cars are flying in that film also, people will be flying there also," he said. PTI
